13th - 14th June

Lappa Valley’s Grand Gala Weekend is set to be the biggest event the attraction has ever hosted, featuring visiting steam locomotives on its main railway for the very first time. Tickets are now on sale.

A truly landmark heritage celebration will take place at Lappa Valley on 13th and 14th June 2026, marking a significant moment in the site’s history.

For the first time, operational visiting steam locomotives will run on the 15-inch gauge Main Railway. Across the weekend, a record five steam locomotives will be in action simultaneously—the highest number ever seen at Lappa Valley.

One of the major highlights will be the visit of Mr. Hallworth, a locomotive from Perrygrove Railway Adventure in Gloucestershire. Named in memory of Tony Hallworth from Wadebridge, the engine honours a man who inspired and mentored generations of railway volunteers through his contributions to heritage railways, including Bodmin Railway. For Lappa Valley, this visit represents a particularly special homecoming to Cornwall.

Also visiting is Spirit of Adventure, the largest 15-inch gauge Exmoor-built tank engine ever constructed. Appearing courtesy of Perrygrove Railway Adventure and Michael Crofts, this impressive locomotive is significantly larger than Lappa Valley’s own Exmoor engine, Ellie. Its cab is large enough for the driver to stand inside, making it a standout attraction in steam.

These visiting engines will join Lappa Valley favourites Zebedee, Muffin, Ellie, City of Truro, and Arthur for a packed weekend of activity across the railway.
