RMT industrial action: important travel advice

Today Fri 23rd Oct 2026

Strike dates

RMT strike action is planned for:

18 & 25 November
2, 9, 16 & 23 December

Safety first: school and college travel

Our first priority on strike days is keeping passengers safe, particularly children, young people and anyone who may be vulnerable.

If you are responsible for a child or student travelling to school or college, please make alternative arrangements on affected strike days.

Families and carers should not rely on another local bus simply because it serves, or passes close to, the school or college.

We cannot know in advance exactly which journeys we will have the resources to operate.

A bus being available to take a child or student to school or college does not mean that a bus will be available to bring them home later that day.

Safeguarding children and young people has to come first.

On strike days when schools and colleges are open, we will suspend:

  • dedicated school and college contract services;
  • dedicated education services; and
  • journeys on the wider local bus network specifically scheduled to provide school or college transport.

These are typically identified in our timetables as “School Day only” or “Truro College Day only”.

Which school and college journeys are suspended?

A full list of suspended school and college journeys will be published here.

Other local bus services may still run, but families and carers should not rely on them as an alternative way of getting a child or student to or from school or college.

Wider local bus network

We are not cancelling the wider local bus network. We will operate as much as we safely and reliably can with the resources available on the day, but passengers should expect significant and unpredictable disruption.

We will not know in advance exactly which journeys will operate.

Cancellations will be published as soon as they become known, and we will update information throughout each strike day.

If you are vulnerable, travelling with children, making an essential journey, or would be at risk if a bus did not arrive, please make alternative travel arrangements wherever possible.

If you do travel by bus:

  • do not rely on the first or last scheduled journey;
  • consider your return journey before setting out; and
  • check the latest service information before travelling.

Action on other days

RMT members will also be taking action short of strike from 25 October, including an overtime ban, a rest-day working ban and no reduced meal breaks, operating in periods between the notified strike dates.

We will continue to monitor services and provide updates through our usual customer information channels where necessary.

We are sorry for the disruption and uncertainty this industrial action will cause.
